The Selva Verde Lodge is nestled in the lowland tropical rainforest of Costa Rica, in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, along the Sarapiqui River. The lodge is known as being the pioneer of the eco-tourism movement in Costa Rica. This is a magical haven for bird watchers, nature enthusiasts, and hikers desiring to experience the rainforest. Located near the lodge is the town of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, where guests will find a number of services and facilities, including bars and restaurants.
If you’re looking for nature and beauty, this is the perfect spot. Hikers and bird watchers will find outstanding trails in the virgin tropical rainforest at the Brauilo Carrillo National Park that are home to hundreds of species of birds and an array of animals. The Sarapiqui River is an excellent place to get your thrills by white water rafting or kayaking. For something a bit more low key, visit the nearby pineapple plantation, go on the chocolate tour, or check out the hummingbird Garden.
The Selva Verde Lodge boasts an amazing 500 acres of critical rainforest reserve, an oasis of complete enchantment and serenity. The lodge features a suspension bridge connecting the eco-lodge to the rainforest reserve. On the grounds enjoy a stroll along thatched walkways graced with tropical plants. An inviting pool near the dining room area awaits guests looking for a cool place to relax and cool down after an adventurous day of rainforest exploration. The restaurant is near the river, a wonderful spot for delicious local meals.
Located near the Sarapiqui River, the charming river lodge's rooms rise above the rainforest floor on elevated platforms, affording unique views of the surrounding vegetation. Rooms accommodate one to four guests in twin beds. The bungalows, tucked into the forest near the botanical garden, have air conditioning and spacious verandas.
Important: Bungalows are located ten minutes walking distance from the reception. If walking on stairs or up inclines is a problem, the bungalows are not recommended.
