Clarion Suites

Guatemala City is often the first place that travelers visit in Guatemala. It’s a big and sometimes chaotic place, but one that’s not without redeeming features. The climate here is temperate and pleasant, and there are some solid cultural attractions to visit. Most of the sites are found within the Centro Histórico in Zona 1—these include the former presidential palace and the Catedral Metropolitana. Guatemala City is fairly cosmopolitan and has a range of good restaurants, cafés, and bars.

The Clarion Suites is a modern business hotel with reliable and comfortable accommodations. In addition to its well-equipped suites, this hotel has a range of amenities that make traveling easy and efficient.

Each of the 172 suites includes a living room and bedroom. The suites are air-conditioned and have two cable TVs, three telephones, and wireless Internet access (for an additional fee). The suites are spacious and clean, and have private hot water bathrooms with a separate tub and shower. Additionally, all rooms come equipped with an iron/ironing board, sofa bed, desk, coffee maker, and a mini-fridge. The hotel’s premium suites have access to additional amenities, including butler service, an American breakfast, shoe shining, ironing, and a complimentary happy hour.

The hotel’s La Poza Restaurant is located near the lobby. The restaurant is set in an atrium that has a waterfall and ample vegetation, which makes for a pleasant dining environment. A variety of international dishes can be ordered from the menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is open from 6 AM till 10 PM.

If you’re hankering for a drink, head to El Catrín Bar, an English pub-style bar that serves both international and national drinks. Sports are often playing on the TVs here and there is wireless Internet access as well. The bar is open from 12 PM till 12 AM and has a nightly happy hour from 5 till 7 PM.

Love traveling but hate missing your exercise routine? That’s not a problem at the Clarion Suites. Located on the hotel’s upper level and sporting good views of the city, the hotel’s gym has cardiovascular machines – including stationary bikes, elliptical machines, and treadmills – as well as free weights. Massages can also be scheduled in advance.

The Clarion Suites is a great place to host meetings or other special events. The hotel’s eight meeting rooms can accommodate between 8 and 120 people and are equipped with AV equipment.
