The Marubo Resort bills itself as a luxury accommodations and amenities but with nature creeping on all sides, Marubo is so much more than a simple spa vacation. Set in a remote area of the Belizean jungle, Marubo is perfect for indulging while escaping from your busy schedule. The resort sits on 1000 acres of private jungle reserve in the Belize District. The Crooked Tree National Park, the country’s longest river and many Mayan archeological sites also home to the Belize District. Marubo combines both the luxury and the fantastic amenities nature provides into a once in a lifetime experience.
On the drive to Marubo you will be instantly absorbed by the jungle. The resort intends to keep you in the rainforest atmosphere once you have entered. The walls are painted in bright metallic colors or lush greens, reds and oranges. Mayan inspired art hangs from the walls creating a feeling of living inside one of the famous temples. Much of the art and fabrics are locally hand crafted. The bedding, walls, rugs and bathrooms are all adored with the rich colors of luxury to remind you that while you might be in a jungle you are still being treated like royalty. There are four tiers of room options. The Standard and Junior rooms contain one king or queen size bed with a spacious shower. The Junior rooms are slightly more spacious and come with an extra futon. The honeymoon bungalows are lavish and private. They are the signature of the Marubo Resort. The in-room hot tub is what really makes the Bungalows worth it. For those traveling in group, a splurge on the Villa is a must. This two bedroom has private bathroom, connecting lounge and a great view of the jungle. Finally, the two story Mayan Loft for complete intimacy and luxury. While a kitchenette is not included, this accommodation allows you to be completely catered on. The living room area offers spectacular views of the gardens and pool and is perfect for private relaxation.
The rest of the amenities live up to the standard set by the rooms. Tours included anything from horseback riding through the jungle to a helicopter tour from the onsite helipad. Two outdoor swimming pools, a solar heated mineral bath, fitness center and racquetball court are all available for guest entertainment. For those looking to expand the experience, a Hookah lounge is also an option. As Maruba is very centrally located some tours will go offsite to visit the nearby excavated Mayan Village or the famous ruins of Lamanai. Less than an hour away is the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary to get a taste of the exotic animals home to Latin America.
The cuisine in keeps with Maruba’s excellent reputation. Almost everything is organic, home grown or prepared onsite. The flavor reflects the ingredients; the fruit is fresh and crisp, the breads defy bland or stale. The ambience in the restaurant allows for both sensual romantic dinners to bright scenery to wake you up at breakfast. A full wet bar is also offered.
Finally, the world renowned Maruba Jungle Spa. This is the only full body spa in the entire country and it lives up to the hype. The Mood Mud Massage has earned a household recognition.
