Boca Tapada Lodge offers warm hospitality in the midst of one of Costa Rica’s more off-the-beaten path destinations. While you’re here, you’ll get to fill your down time with wildlife observation, and share your cabin’s balcony with hummingbirds and toucans. This is the ideal retreat for travelers who want to spend their time birdwatching and relaxing in nature.
The grounds of the lodge border the San Carlos River. Travelers come here to see green macaw – this is one of its rare habitats. It takes just over an hour and a half to reach La Fortuna, which is one of Costa Rica’s busiest travel hubs. Take hikes to the La Fortuna Waterfall, or guided nature tours of the highly varied terrain that surrounds Arenal Volcano. If you do take tours of this busier destination, at the end you’ll get to return to the peace and serenity of your rainforest lodge.
All of the cabins come with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. They are spacious, with high ceilings and rustic, hardwood furnishings. The cabins area also equipped with some kitchen equipment. Each kitchenette comes complete with microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffee and tea makers. You can also fetch yourself a cooling drink from the minibar.
In the cabins, you’ll get plenty of natural light through the floor-to-ceiling windows. You can get more fresh air on the private verandas, which are equipped with hammocks. Cabins are surrounded by tropical plants, including colorful heliconias. They get daily housekeeping and you can use the lodge’s laundry service.
Choose from a light continental breakfast for a quick meal, or help yourself to the buffet. Since you’re in a more remote area, the restaurant can provide all of your meals during your stay, although there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. The lodge also offers barbecue facilities. If you want a drink with your meal, the lodge has a limited wine list.
