El Remanso is committed to protecting the environment and benefiting the local community. The lodge uses 100% renewable energies, minimal impact construction materials, no herbicides, pesticides, or dangerous chemicals, recycling and waste management, responsible water use, and biodegradable products. The El Remanso staff has joined with other landowners in the area to protect the biological corridors of Corcovado National Park. The 25 member staff are all locally born Costa Ricans.
