Selvatura's stunning butterfly garden is one of the largest on the continent. At 300ft long and 90ft wide, with a huge 50ft dome ceiling, the giant garden is host to 50 species of butterflies.
The Selvatura Butterfly Garden is a state of the art project with accurate and sensitive temperature control. This climate control system enables the survival of a variety of butterfly species that are native to a range of altitudes and climate conditions. Normally these butterfly species are found in a variety of different zones throughout Costa Rica but within the Selvatura Butterfly Garden they all have the ability to thrive. Guests to the Butterfly Garden to take a guided tour through this fascinating live exhibit and learn about the life cycle, special behaviors and evolution of these unique creatures.
Visitors are advised to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and to bring rain gear. Even though this exhibit is indoors there are a variety of walkways that are not covered throughout the Selvatura Park area. The tour lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours, but can be either shorter or longer, depending on your pace.
