Ceiba Tree Lodge is a hillside lodge that puts you on the edge of Arenal Lake, the manmade lake that lives in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. Visitors here get to spend their downtime taking in the tropical grounds that serve as a home to toucans and hummingbirds.
You can walk on a trail of suspension bridges through the Arenal canopy, and that’s just one of the many ways to explore this jungle — you may also want to try zip-lining or take a tram through the upper reaches of the forest. Other nature tours can take you to the solidified lava that flowed from the still-active Arenal Volcano. Along the way, your guide can point out the tiny critters that play a big part in the jungle ecosystem. And when you get to the lodge, you’ll have even more opportunity to observe an untouched, primary rainforest.
Part of this lodge’s appeal is its exclusive feel — with just seven rooms, you won’t have to compete for a view of the lake from the lodge’s terrace. The garden here features tropical blooms as well as 500-year-old ceiba tree.
Rooms here emphasize rustic elegance, with lots of natural lighting and outfitted with conveniences like minibars and safety deposit boxes. All of the rooms come with private terraces furnished with comfy hammocks. There are five standard rooms and two comfort rooms — the two comfort rooms come with bigger bathrooms and coffee makers.
There’s a nicely varied breakfast buffet included in your stay. For the rest of your meals, you can look forward to artisanal sandwiches and multi-course meals featuring Mediterranean cuisine. You’ll also head to the on-site restaurant when you want to access the lodge’s Wi-Fi. When you’re ready to dine out, you’ll finds plentiful options in the nearby town of La Fortuna.
