Rancho Humo is a family villa, right on the bank of the Tempisque River. It’s on the outskirts of the Palo Verde National Park, where you can go on tours of the wetlands.
Palo Verde National Park protects Costa Rica’s most ecologically significant mangroves and wetlands. While you stay at the ranch you’ll be on your own slice of 1,100 hectares (2,718 acres) of ecological reserve and its hiking trails. This is an area ripe for bird watching tours. Take a boat on the to the Isla de Pajáros (Bird Island) to see species like íbises, herons, storks, spoonbills, gulls, and cormorants. On a trip here you can also expect to see monkeys, crocodiles, and caimans.
You’ll eat breakfast on the open-air terrace that overlooks the reserve’s dense foliage.
Rooms here stay cool with air conditioning and a fan. Relax in front of the TV and make calls on the room’s telephone. Rancho Humo offers free Wi-Fi throughout the villa.
Guests here will have their own private bathrooms with rain showers, double sinks, and upscale amenities. Keep your valuables stored in the room’s safety deposit box.
Head to the sun deck to lounge next to the pool to enjoy a drink. There’s also a gazebo where you can sit in the shade.
