Rip Jack Inn's stellar location is 75 yards from Playa Grande, an expansive 3-mile beach along Guanacaste's Pacific coast. Playa Grande, which translates to "Big Beach", is a surfer's playground with consistent barreling waves. It is also one of only three places in the world where the giant Leatherback Turtle comes to lay its eggs, and thus the whole beach is protected as a National Park.
Nearby there are even more secluded beaches such as the black-sand Playa Carbon and Playa Ventana. However, Playa Grande is not far from the bustling tourist town of Tamarindo, which boasts a wide selection of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Thus, visitors to Playa Grande can enjoy the National Park's shroud of peace and tranquility while still having access to a number of pleasant conveniences.
In addition to surfing, there are many activity options and tours to fill the day. Scuba diving, snorkeling, and sailing are great activities for spotting colorful fish and marine life. They also allow visitors to explore the surrounding islands and beaches. Boat estuary tours provide a fantastic opportunity for spotting birds and crocodiles. Land-based activities near the Playa Grande area include golf, canopy tours, horseback rides, and hiking in the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Of course, it's well worth just sticking around the Rip Jack Inn where guests can enjoy on-site yoga and surf lessons, relax with a message, or simply spend the day in a hammock.
The Rip Jack Inn has eight uniquely decorated rooms set amid the lush tropical gardening of the hotel grounds and pool. The upstairs dinning area presents a stunning panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. It serves tasty dishes in a variety of international flavors and sauces, including calamari, shrimp, and tuna for appetizers, with chicken, pasta, and grilled Tenderloin as entries.
