This one-day tour offers travelers a chance to shop for handicrafts, soak in hot springs, and enjoy beautiful views of the Arenal Volcano. This tour leaves from San José and visits Sarchí, Arenal, and the Baldi Hot Springs.
This tour begins in San José and makes its way towards Arenal. En route, you'll stop at Sarchí, one of the best places to shop for handicrafts in Costa Rica. While here, you'll visit shops that sell locally produced handicrafts and artwork. Needless to say, this is a great place to buy souvenirs for friends and family back home! While you're in Sarchí, you may also be able to see the world's largest oxcart, which is huge and painted with bright colors.
The journey then continues on towards Arenal. You'll drive by agricultural plantations, including pineapple farms and mango groves, before arriving at the small town of La Fortuna. In La Fortuna you'll stop and eat lunch at a cozy restaurant. The restaurant has good food and a spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano.
After lunch you'll stop at the Mirador 1968 viewpoint, where you'll get stunning views of the volcano and take a short 30-minute tour of the surrounding area. While here you'll learn about the history of the Arenal Volcano and the ecology of this region.
The Baldi Hot Springs are next. There are several different hot springs to try out, all of which have different temperatures. Relaxing in these soothing, therapeutic waters is the absolute best way to end your day here. Massages can also be arranged if reserved ahead of time.
After soaking, you'll be served a wonderful dinner at the Baldi Hot Springs. The restaurant has excellent views of the volcano, and provides you with one final opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area. After eating dinner you will return to San José.
