Rooms come in warm colors, in tropical shades that bring a little of the exotic flora indoors. Tirimbina is its own eco reserve, that protects 852 acres (345 ha) of rainforest, near the banks of the Sarapiquí River. They offer simple accommodations that make for comfortable places to unwind in between deep dives into the jungle.
Tirimbina Lodge reserves most of its rainforest for wildlife only, but there are 5.5 miles (9 km) of trails for visitors. These trails have suspension bridges, which offer a tremendous view of the canopy from 72 feet (22 m) and 115 feet (35 M) above the ground. As much as you can explore on the grounds, there’s even more to see in the nearby Braulio Carrillo National Park, which has a reputation as a bird watcher’s paradise — there’s even an aerial tram through the park, for an easy way to make your way through the canopy.
This is a low-impact lodge that makes every effort to blend into the rainforest surroundings. But, there are modern conveniences like a laundry service and public Wi-Fi. Tirimbina lodge offers a range of accommodations, including dorm-style bunks and nicely appointed private rooms.
The rooms with bunk beds have shared bathrooms. Private rooms have air conditioning as well as private bathrooms. Standard rooms have private sitting rooms and nice views of the grounds. Deluxe rooms come with extra perks like bathrooms that come equipped with hair dryers, as well as coffee makers and plenty of shelving and storage space for luggage. These rooms also come with safety deposit boxes.
There’s a convenient restaurant on the grounds of the hotel that specializes in Costa Rican and international dishes. You can get your morning started on the right foot with the breakfast that’s included in your stay. The bar specializes in quality coffee and organic wine.
