Alajuela is Costa Rica’s second largest city in terms of inhabitants, but visitors will be pleasantly surprised to find that its pace is significantly calmer than that of San José. The city itself has historical roots which can be glimpsed in walks through parks and markets, where old cathedrals and buildings line nearby streets. The central park is lined with mango trees and is a popular spot for locals trying to escape the afternoon sun. The city’s central market is bustling and exciting, providing visitors with a chance to purchase handcrafted Costa Rican products. La Garita, a small suburb, houses Zoo Ave – a wonderful and expansive wildlife rehabilitation zoo that has an outstanding bird collection and many other animals. This area also acts as a great launching pad for visits to the Poás and Arenal volcanoes, Doka Coffee Plantation, La Paz Waterfall Gardens and many other Central Valley attractions.
The hotel’s staff is friendly, helpful, and able to assist in planning trips around the spectacular local countryside with or without a vehicle. We are able to provide the services in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish, to your convenience. Airport pickups can be arranged for a fee. Every year this hotel has been the recipient of the Prestigious Traveler choice award from Trip Advisor Central America.
