Explore the headquarters of the Rebel army at La Plata. Fidel Castro established this army base in 1958 to provide shelter and amenities to the guerrillas who were fighting his war. La Plata is high in the mountains and while you will drive most of the way the final leg of the journey is on foot. The road is too steep for a car to traverse. The expert drivers will get you safely to this point.
Before hitting the trail, you will start in the small villa of Santo Domingo. Located in the heart of the tropical mountains. The village sits alongside the Yara River. You will hike down to the riverbed and are welcome to take a dip.
The tour will last about four hours and will transport you back to Bayamo at the end. Your English speaking guides will make it an unforgettable trip. Lunch is available for an extra cost.
