Hotel Sevilla is named after the Spanish city of Sevilla, and you can see the influence of Spanish architecture in the hotel, specifically the elegant lines and mosaics of the Moorish La Alhambra Palace. This hotel is right on the Prado, within walking distance of some of the city’s most recognizable historical sights, including the capitol building.
From here, you can leave on walking tours of the city’s impressive architecture, or hop in a classic car to see the sights from Cuba’s favorite mode of transportation. Tours to colonial fortresses offer an educational look at the city, and tours of Old Havana can also bring you to see stunning examples of art deco and neoclassical architecture. Mix things up with an off-the-beaten path trip to see Fusterlandia, a neighborhood that’s been transformed into a colorful art project.
Hotel Sevilla opened in 1908, and guests often want to stay here for the history as much as the atmosphere. The beautiful common areas bore witness to one of the most storied chapters in Cuban history. In the 1940s a gangster ran the hotel, and it’s rumored that Al Capone once stayed the night here. It’s hosted a variety of celebrities, including famed dancer Josephine Baker.
On the al fresco patio, regular live music performances keep guests entertained. Guests can also take a swim in the street-level pool — it offers a refreshing place to take a dip, as well as a good spot to do some people watching. For more relaxation, head to the sauna and book a massage service. There’s a breakfast buffet included in your stay, and if you’re feeling peckish between meals, there’s also a convenient snack bar. This busy part of the city has plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
The comfortable, air-conditioned guest rooms come equipped with coffee makers and writing desks. All of the private bathrooms come with hair dryers. You can access the Wi-Fi for a fee from the lobby.
