Yes, as soon as it is brought to a Cubacel office (the business unit of the national phone company, ETECSA). Purchasing a SIM card at Cubacel (CUC/USD 10-40) will make your phone operational all over Cuba. Before you enter the country you will need to call your service provider for an international plan that covers Cuba.
iPhone users will still be able to send texts and take photos with their phones. Internet access via phone, however, will be extremely rare.
Most cell phones work with a service carrier’s GSM network. Cell phones that work with the alternate technology, like CDMA, will not work in Cuba.
