Palacio de Doña Leonor is a beautiful boutique hotel in La Antigua, Guatemala. This hotel is centrally located and has elegant rooms and a delicious restaurant.
La Antigua is a delightful town in Guatemala’s Central Highlands. Set 28 miles (45 km) west of Guatemala City, Antigua is both pleasant and attractive. The town revolves around a central park that is a good place to people watch and get a sense of the pace of life here. There are good museums, old churches, and other cultural sites within walking distance, as well as yummy restaurants and ample shopping options. The Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes are set just outside town and offer nice hiking opportunities.
Palacio de Doña Leonor is located less than one block from Antigua’s central square but it feels like a world apart. Entering from the cobblestone street, you’re immediately immersed in a beautiful courtyard. The courtyard has nicely manicured plants, a fountain, and even a small swimming pool—the pool is an especially nice way to cool off after a day spent exploring Antigua. The hotel is set in a magnificently restored hacienda.
Each of the rooms is individually decorated. With fancy chandeliers, four-poster beds and elaborate rugs, the rooms almost look Victorian. The accommodations are spacious and exquisite, and many have comfortable sitting areas with sofas, coffee tables, and a fireplace.
All rooms have a flat-screen cable TV, telephone, desk, and safe deposit box. Every room also comes equipped with a private bathroom, hot water shower, bathtub, hair dryer, and toiletries. The rooms open onto a large covered balcony that overlooks the courtyard.
Palacio de Doña Leonor has a restaurant that serves a range of international dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast here is delicious and includes options like ham and Gruyère cheese omelets and chocolate chip pancakes. For dinner you can enjoy rack of lamb, smoked salmon fettuccine, or vegetarian lasagna. Hungry for desert? Try some coconut cake, chocolate mousse, or fresh fruit tartelette.
The hotel’s bar is stocked with all kinds of drinks, including wine, champagne, and beer. Bartenders can also whip up a number of tasty cocktails. The lounge is a pleasant place to sip drinks and relax.
Palacio de Doña Leonor can help arrange events like weddings and business meetings.
