The Hotel Ecológico Posada Caribe has cabins nestled into a forest just outside the town of Sayaxché. You must get there by boat or hiking or traveling with a Ceibal Tour.
While the town itself is not a draw, this area is an excellent jumping off point for visiting the captivating ruins at the Aguateca Cultural Monument and Ceibal Natural Monument. The Petexbatún Wildlife Refuge is also just a few miles away if you’re keen on searching for birds or other animals.
This eco-hotel strives to minimize their environmental footprint. The hotel is located outside Sayaxché, in the middle of a forested area where you can hear birds and monkeys calling to each other. Fishing, canoeing, and wildlife tours are all possible while staying here.
There are just six cabins at Hotel Ecológico Posada Caribe. Guests have their own personal cabin—the cabins are simple, clean, and charming. The cabins contain either one queen-size bed or two double beds that are covered with mosquito nets. You’ll have a private bathroom with hot water. Electricity is provided by a generator for a few hours each evening.
The kitchen can prepare all meals and is happy to send along a box lunch if you’re taking an excursion for the day. At night, after sharing a meal with the other guests and turning out the lights, you can listen to the singing insects chirp you to sleep before the next day’s adventure.
Electricity runs with a power plant from 18:00 pm to 22:00pm and from 05:30am to 07:30am
If you wish to take a shower with hot water or have electricity for electronics during other times please ask front desk for service and extra charge.
