Santai is a boutique beach resort, with a limited number of accommodations at the foot of Mount Agung. It sits right on the coast of Jemeluk Bay, which has recently become one of Indonesia’s top diving and snorkeling destinations.
The beach here has distinctive black sand. Jemeluk Bay is best known for its coral reef and an old Japanese shipwreck. Visibility depends on the water, but on a clear day you can see beautiful schools of colorful, tropical fish. Amed is a laid back fishing village, fairly new to the world of tourism. Because of this, you can expect to get a real feel for a traditional Indonesian fishing village.
From the resort’s pool, you’ll have a view of the waves crashing on the beach below. There’s an on-site spa that offers creative treatments — you might choose something like the emerald treatment or a reiki session. Guests can keep fit at the on-site fitness center, which offers a nice selection of cardio and strength training equipment. The one-site restaurant serves a good variety of Indonesian and international dishes. The hotel bar specializes in sunset happy hours, and the bar and lounge area hosts live music performances.
Choose from either bungalows or suites. Bungalows have a traditional Balinese design — they’re on raised stilts with thatched roofs. There’s also a two-floor building comprised of comfortable suites. Both types of accommodations offer views of either the ocean or the scenic garden from their patios, which are furnished with comfortable outdoor furniture. You’ll find a tray with coffee and tea delivered every morning, so you can sip something hot as you prepare for the day.
Interiors have a warm aesthetic and natural materials. All of the accommodations come with air conditioning and refreshing minibars. Guests will also have access to safety deposit boxes and Wi-Fi. Private bathrooms come with hot water showers and hair dryers.
