On this tour, you’ll learn as much about zesty Indonesian dishes as the luscious landscape that provides the ingredients. Before your cooking class at the Bali Asli restaurant, you’ll visit a nearby village and try a drink made from Indonesia’s favorite crop.
This tour begins at the Bali Asli restaurant. From there, you’ll take a trek to to Pangi Village to taste local tuak wine. It’s made from a mash of glutinous rice along with ragi, a type of cereal crop that produces the enzyme that makes fermentation possible. Your stop at the village includes a break for morning coffee or tea, and an easygoing stroll along the river and through the scenic rice fields. In the late morning, you’ll return to Bali Asli for a cooking class. Bali Asli’s classes have a very hands-on approach – instead of just following a recipe, you’ll learn about how the chefs get their ingredients, many of which come from the restaurants own garden. Finally, you’ll taste the fruits (and veggies) of your labor with a sumptuous lunch.
