This 9-hour tour introduces you to the intense wildlife that lives just off the coast of the Gili Islands. These islands have laidback vibes and unpolluted waters, hugging the coast of nearby Lombok. You'll get to visit popular sites and have time scheduled to explore Gili Air on your own.
Your tour begins with a pickup from the Senggigi-area hotel and then a stop at the Gunung Sar Morning Market. Locals will be making their daily market run to buy staples like vegetables and fish. Next, you’ll stop at Sedimen Mountain Village, where you’ll see locals tapping sago palm for sugar.
You’ll climb into an outrigger boat — a type of canoe-shaped longboat that makes easy work of the 20 minute ride from Teluk Kodeq Harbor to Gili Trawangan. Gili Trawangan is known as the best option for travelers hoping to stay on the Gilis, and this island’s many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars make it possible to have a bit of a party atmosphere. On your stop here, you’ll do some snorkeling in the inviting, bright blue water.
Next, you’ll hop back in the long rigger and head to the shores of Gili Meno, where you’ll go offshore snorkeling around a coral reef. Gili Meno is the smallest and most secluded of the islands, making it ideal for spotting wildlife. (Please note: You will have to rent snorkeling gear in Gili Trawangan, unless you have your own.) This is an excellent spot for seeing sea turtles, and if you’re lucky, rarer species like blue coral and clownfish.
For the final leg of the tour, you’ll visit Gili Air, which is small enough to explore thoroughly in one day. While you’re here, you can hire a horse cart or rent a bicycle to explore the island more. On this long day of adventure, your group will take a break for a meal. A fixed-menu lunch at one of the Gili Island restaurants is included.
