Hotel Tjampuhan has offered plush accommodations since the 1920s, when it was built to serve as a royal guesthouse. It has preserved its elegant Indonesian design, with ornate wood carvings and a serene atmosphere. Visitors come here for the scenic location as well as the inviting on-site spa.
Although you’ll feel like you’re surrounded by the jungle, it’s actually only a short trip from here to downtown Ubud. Take Tjampuhan’s peaceful vibes with you on a visit to one of Ubud’s many tranquil yoga studios. It’s a popular activity here, and you can find a good variety of excellent instructors. Ubud also offers a nice selection of restaurants and historical buildings that are worth exploring on a city tour. Explore the outdoors on a trip to the nearby Campuhan Ridge, which has a paved path with an excellent view of the tree-covered slopes.
The spa has a creative layout, with treatment rooms arranged overlooking streams and lotus ponds. They are semi-open, letting in lots of air and light. You’ll get Balinese massages and distinctive skin treatments made with local herbs. On the lush grounds of the hotel, you’ll find a swimming pool and comfortable outdoor loungers surrounded by untamed rainforest greenery, protected from the sun by umbrellas.
The dining room captures the grandeur of Balinese royalty, with a semi-formal dining set up. It serves a dinner menu of fresh, Indonesian classics. You can find snacks there throughout the day, and order a refreshing beverage from the similarly upscale bar and lounge. A breakfast buffet is included in your stay. If you want to have a meal in your room, feel free to use the room service.
Choose from a collection of rooms as well as a stand-alone bungalow. The bungalow is called the “Walter Spies House,” and is named after a German painter who took inspiration from the guest house and its surroundings. It covers two stories and has two bedrooms.
Accommodations have private terraces (or balconies) that offer sumptuous views. All of these guest rooms come with either air conditioning or ceiling fans. You can access the Wi-Fi or watch TV. They also all have nicely appointed private bathrooms. Maybe best of all, you don’t worry about laundry during your stay — the staff are happy to take care of it while you’re out and about.
