The Río Chiriquí is one of Panama’s top whitewater rivers. It winds through the highlands of western Panama and surges through dense tropical forest. This tour offers travelers of every skill level – from beginners to more advanced paddlers – the chance to raft this storied river.
The tour begins at 8:00 a.m. You’ll meet at the office of Boquete Outdoor Adventures before being driven to the banks of the Río Chiriquí. When you arrive at the starting point, your guide will help you gear up and explain how to best tackle the rapids. You’ll be told when to paddle, when not to paddle, and when it’s safe to jump in the water for a quick swim. When you’re ready, you’ll push the raft out and begin the adventure.
As you make your way down the river, look around and enjoy the incredible landscape. Mountains rise in the distance and large trees spread roots down to the water. Be on the lookout for birds flying across the river.
Some trips include up to four hours of moderate paddling. Due to this, participants should be in good physical condition. The minimum age for the Class II/III section is seven years. The minimum age for Class III/IV is 10 years. The minimum age for Class IV/V is 14 years. Feel free to contact us to discuss any physical limitations or special needs that you may have.
