The Cubitá Boutique Resort and Spa is a new luxury hotel and residential property set just outside Chitré. The resort marries modern amenities with traditional Azuero design.

Chitré is the largest town on the Azuero Peninsula. It’s also one of the oldest towns in Panama—archaeologists suspect that a village may have existed here as early as 1558. Today, the town is less traditional than busy and many visitors use it as a stopping point while traveling to other destinations on the peninsula. Still, there are several sites worth seeing. La Arena, a sort of suburb of Chitré, has some of Panama’s best pottery. The small, quaint town of Parita (just 6 miles away) has Spanish colonial buildings and is a good place to stroll during the afternoon.

The Cubitá Boutique Resort and Spa is set on 12 acres (5 ha) of beautifully landscaped terrain. The architecture of the resort, with its red-tile roofs and earth-tone buildings, evokes the region’s Spanish colonial past.
