The Gamboa Rainforest Resort is located in Gamboa near the Panama Canal. This luxurious resort has a wide offering of amenities and facilities, including a spa, swimming pool, and aerial tram.
Gamboa is a small town along the shores of the Panama Canal. The town offers few services but is close to astounding outdoor areas. The Chagres River (which flows through the Panama Canal) is literally a stone’s throw away—you can go fishing, kayaking, and boating here or visit Barro Colorado Island, which is managed by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. Also close by is the Soberanía National Park, which hosts some of the country’s best bird watching on Pipeline Road.
The Gamboa Rainforest Resort is beautiful and expansive. The hotel’s property – filled with flowering gardens, tall trees, and well-manicured grass – lies adjacent to the banks of the Chagres River and spreads over 338 acres (137 ha). From the restaurant to your balcony, you’ll enjoy stellar views of the river. The setting for this place couldn’t be better.
The Gamboa Rainforest Resort has a laundry list of services and amenities. Guests can entertain themselves at the swimming pool and tennis courts or take a ride up the aerial tram. You can visit the hotel’s snake house, butterfly house, orchid nursery, or aquarium. You might hit the gym for a workout or find your way to the spa for a massage or facial. Your options are nearly endless.
The resort has three restaurants. Restaurante Los Lagartos is located along the Chagres River near where it empties into Lake Gatún. You can watch turtles and iguanas sunbathe on logs as you enjoy your meal. The food at the restaurants is a nice mixture of international and local cuisine.
The rooms of the resort are comfortable, modern and attractive. Each comes equipped with a private bathroom, hot water shower, air conditioning, mini bar, in-room safe, and cable TV. They also have private balconies (set with a hammock and chairs) that look out over the Chagres River. Most rooms have a king-size bed, but some have a loft with an additional two beds.
