Palma Royale Hotel is on the south coast of Bocas del Toros’ Colón Island. From this hotel, you can walk just 65 feet (30 m) to the ocean.
On the north side of the island, you can visit Playa Boca del Drago, which is one of Bocas del Toro’s best beaches for swimming. The water here is calm and clear, but the strip of sand that comprises the beach can get quite narrow. Just a little ways south you can explore Playa Estrella, or “Star Beach” in English. It is named after the many starfish that gather in the shallows. You should also arrange to take a snorkeling or boating tour to a rocky formation called Swan’s Cay. This area is just a short distance from the island’s north shore and has some incredible bird watching.
Rooms here have a relaxed but upscale style, with lots of bright, tropical colors. The furniture and fixtures are a mix of bamboo, leather, handcrafted wood, and marble. Panama Royale’s staff keeps the rooms especially inviting with fresh flowers and aromatherapy. There are large windows that let in natural light and overlook either the beach or the hotel gardens. You can take in the view from your room’s private patio or balcony.
Every room comes with a coffee maker and gourmet coffee – prepare the fresh beans using the room’s coffee grinder. There is also a mini fridge where you can keep drinks and snacks. If you need some entertainment, flip through the channels on the flat-screen satellite TV. Palma Royale provides laundry services for guests.
All of the rooms have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. You can set up your laptop at the room’s comfortable desk. In the private bathroom, you can enjoy hot water under the rain showerhead. Bathrooms at Palma Royale come with marble fixtures.
Breakfast is included in your stay and is served at the café on the hotel patio. Bocas del Toro is a popular beach town, and there are plenty of nice restaurants to visit for an oceanfront lunch or dinner.
