Tierra Viva Machu Picchu Hotel faces the sacred Urubamba River, in the small town of Aguas Calientes. You can hike to Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, or take a 20-minute bus ride.
Machu Picchu is the major attraction, but try to see some of the other sights in Aguas Calientes while you’re here. You can take a scenic, easy walk to the waterfalls called Mandor Falls, and go for a swim in the plunge pool. For views of Machu Picchu, choose from hikes up Putucusi Hill and Huayna Picchu. The hike up Huayna Picchu is steep and somewhat difficult, but from the summit you’ll have a sweeping view of Machu Picchu. The Putucusi Hill hike is longer, and also offers incredible views. This trail ends with an ascent up a wooden ladder that takes you the final 600 feet (200 m).
During your stay you’ll have access to the hotel’s business center and its computers. There’s also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
Order a drink at the bar, and finalize your plans for the following day next to the fireplace in the hotel lounge. Get some fresh air on the terrace, where you’ll have a view of the city. The communal areas here have colorful murals.
There are 43 rooms available. Rooms are bright, with white linens and walls, and pops of color inspired by native textiles. You’ll have a TV and your desk in your room, and guests can avail themselves of the hotel’s laundry service. Breakfast is included as part of your stay, so make sure to fill up before you leave.
