The Belmond Palacio Nazarenas is a boutique hotel in Cusco. The hotel is set in a former convent that has been beautifully restored into one of the city’s best hotels.
Cusco is set near the Sacred Valley and is often incorporated into trips through this region of Peru. Cusco is, however, a destination unto itself and is well worthy of a few days of attention. Travelers will delight in visiting its many cultural attractions, which include old churches, Inca ruins, and fabulous museums. There are a number of excellent restaurants, bars, and shops to visit, as well as ample outdoor activities nearby. These include hiking, kayaking, biking, and bird watching.
Set in a tranquil plaza behind Cusco’s main square, the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas is an intimate urban retreat with just 55 suites. As you pass through the stone lobby, you’ll enter a cloistered courtyard with an ancient fountain at its center.
The hotel’s generously sized suites offer luxury in the heart of Cusco. There are a variety of suites, all of which offer original Inca and colonial features and have good views of Cusco. Each spacious bathroom has underfloor heating and Peruvian travertine marble décor. All accommodations have satellite TV, a sound system, Wi-Fi, and an iPad with the Nazarenas app. There’s also a bar where you can make espresso, tea, and pisco, or find snacks to nibble on. Some suites feature balconies and living rooms. What’s more, all accommodations can be pumped with oxygen to help traveler’s combat altitude sickness.
The hotel’s swimming pool is located within the largest of the seven cloistered terraces. This heated outdoor pool is a perfect place to unwind at any time of day. Guests can also relax in the lounge, which is equipped with a computer, snooker table, and 50-inch TV. The large chapel, located near the entrance to the hotel, has been restored and also acts as a guest lounge.
The onsite restaurant, Senzo, offers exceptional food in a refined atmosphere. The à la carte and buffet breakfasts feature a variety of tasty and nutritious options. The dining menu showcases Andean cuisine, with meals that can be tailored to suit your personal preference. Specialty dishes feature local herbs and are decorated with edible flowers, many of which are grown at the hotel. Eat on the rooftop terrace and enjoy views of the surrounding area. Cocktails and other refreshments can be had at the hotel bar.
When it’s time to really relax, head to the hotel’s Hypnôze Spa, which offers an array of treatments aimed at improving physical, mental and emotional well-being. Treatments include facials, wraps, massages, baths, body scrubs, and more.
