Cusco is set within the Southern Highlands of Peru. It’s often visited in conjuncture with trips to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. The city itself is pleasant and attractive. There is a good amount of culture and history here, and travelers can experience this in the city’s churches, neighborhoods, and temples. Outside of Cusco you can enjoy hiking, biking, bird watching, and rafting.
The Hotel Mabey Cusco is located just outside the central part of Cusco. The bilingual staff is nice and helpful—they can recommend activities or book cabs for you. This hotel has a restaurant and bar, which are good places to have a meal or grab a drink after a day of travel. Not feeling like eating out? Order room service and have dinner in your room. The restaurant can also pack to-go lunches that you can take on tours. A complimentary breakfast buffet is offered each morning and there is free tea in the lobby.
The hotel’s 45 rooms are clean and in good condition. All have a private bathroom with a hot water shower and hair dryer; some rooms even have a Jacuzzi bathtub. The rooms are equipped with cable TV, free Wi-Fi, and a safety deposit box. The windows open to allow in fresh air, and there are heaters that can be turned on during the chillier times of year. The rooms can sleep up to three people and all are non-smoking.
There are a few public computers that guests can use to access the Internet, as well as a salon that can be used for meetings, parties, and other events.
Hotel Mabey Cusco also has laundry service, luggage storage, and currency exchange. Do note, however, that this hotel is located outside Cusco’s main square—it’s about a 15–20 minute walk to get here, or you can have the hotel receptionist call you cab.
