Located in the high Andean plateau between Peru & Bolivia, Uros Khantati is one of over 50 small islands in an extraordinary archipelago of floating reed islands populated by the Uros, an ancient indigenous people. This island, Khantati, is an authentic rural homestay you won't find anywhere else. Their goal is to provide you, the visitor, with a living hands-on experience there among the reed islands of Lake Titicaca. Their lives depend on the lake, so they strive to ensure their impact on the environment is minimal. Their island accommodations are clean, comfortable, and always ecologically friendly.
The tour starts with the transfer to the famous floating islands of the UROS, in this case we will arrive to the island called "Khantati"; local families will give us an explanation on the construction, traditions and the way of life on the island of the Uros. After our lunch, in the afternoon we will travel on a reed boat with families to put fishing nets, then we will see how cut reeds (for the construction of the same Islands, handicrafts, etc...
As well, the same islanders will teach you to create your own handicrafts made from totora. We will have our dinner and then rest in the floating islands of the Uros. The next day in the morning we will proceed to pick up our fishing net that we put the previous day and see the diversity of native fish of Lake Titicaca; then we take our breakfast and finally return to Puno.
