Take the voyager train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes for an incredible view of the mountains that surround the Sacred Valley of the Inca. This comfortable train has huge, panoramic windows, as well as a host of other services that capture the elegance of train travel from another era.
You can chooe from itineraries that depart either the morning, afternoon, and evening. The earlier arrival gives you the chance to see citadel in the soft light of the morning sun, and probably works better for travelers who also want to also explore the nearby summit of Huayna Picchu. The afternoon route gets you to Machu Picchu during the least busy time of day. If you arrive in the evening, plan to spend the night in Aguas Calientes and see the ruins in the morning.
During your trip, you can look forward to snacks, as well as hot and cold beverages. These aren’t your typical selection of chips and soda – look forward to drinks prepared using local fruit juices and herbs.
