The Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel is located 4 miles (7 km) outside of Urubamba. The setting is absolutely incredible for this luxurious hotel.
Urubamba lies in the middle of the Sacred Valley. As such, it makes a good home base for exploring this area. The town itself is mellow and friendly, with good restaurants and fun bars. The scenery is also spectacular—the plains above town stretch towards the snow-covered Urubamba Mountain Range. There are mountain biking, horseback riding and rafting opportunities, and visits can be made to the site of Moray, which may have been used as a sort of agricultural laboratory by the Inca.
Aranwa Sacred Valley is a beautiful hotel found along the road between Urubamba and Huayllabamba. The hotel is built around a 17th-century colonial hacienda and set near the Vilcanota River. The facilities are luxurious, the staff polite, and the setting remarkable.
The grounds here are wonderful and lovingly maintained. There are fishponds, flowers, llamas, parrots and even peacocks spread around the hotel property. This accentuates the quiet and relaxing environment.
The accommodations, which are decorated in a colonial style and have modern minimalist décor, are comfortable and refined. All have big bathrooms with Jacuzzi bathtubs and heated towel racks. Guests can enjoy the 32-inch LCD TVs and wireless Internet, and grab a drink from the mini-bar when the time is right. Other amenities include a safety deposit box, iron/ironing board, and fine bathrobes and slippers. Many rooms have a terrace or balcony that overlooks the gardens, mountains or river. The hotel’s suites are bigger and nicer—they are equipped with a cozy living room, fireplace, dining room, and kitchenette.
Guests of Aranwa Sacred Valley can dine at one of several restaurants. There is a sushi bar that offers Japanese and Peruvian fusions with delicious dishes like tempura, sashimi, temaki, and more. At the Pukawi Gourmet Restaurant, you can sample a menu that reflects a journey between cultures while still maintaining the essence of the Andean culinary tradition. Many of the meals use organic ingredients and promote health and wellness. Pisco sours and a range of international wines can be sipped at the two-story bar.
After a day spent exploring the Sacred Valley, indulge with a massage at the Unno Spa, one of the largest spas in the Sacred Valley. This modern spa is equipped with hydrotherapy pools, a hyperbaric chamber, Vichy shower, and aromatherapy oxygen rooms. The treatments here combine ancestral knowledge with alternative medicine and the latest medical technology. Treatments include massages, hydrotherapy, facials, Ayurveda, and more.
This hotel has a business center, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, museum, art gallery, chapel, library, and beauty salon. There’s also a movie house where you can catch a film and snack on free popcorn.
