Casa Andina Valle Sagrado is located just outside the town of Ollantaytambo. This is a cozy hotel with rooms that look out over the Andes.
Ollantaytambo is one of Peru’s best-preserved Incan villages. Set within the beautiful Sacred Valley close to Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo is quaint and traditional. There is an Inca temple and fortress above town and all kinds of activities to enjoy in the nearby area, including horseback riding, rafting, and biking. The hiking here is especially good and there are a number of jaunts to go on close to town.
Casa Andina Valle Sagrado is cute and comfortable. Nestled into the hills outside of town, the hotel’s setting is lovely—clouds hang around the mountain peaks in the morning, but will usually burn off into blue skies in the afternoon. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed.
The buildings have red-tile roofs and are arranged around a tidy central garden. The garden has a central fountain and sometimes sees llamas or alpacas grazing on its grass. The hotel is set at the base of the Andes Mountains and has spectacular views of the surrounding area.
The rooms are set within two-story buildings that are arranged around the garden. The rooms are spacious and modern. All come equipped with a private bathroom, hot water shower, hair dryer, and bathtub. They have high ceilings and private balconies (or patios) that look out onto the gardens and mountains. Spending the morning or evening on your private balcony is utterly pleasant. All rooms also have a coffee maker and breakfast table (which also doubles as a desk), and a safety deposit box where you can store valuables.
The hotel’s suites are slightly nicer and larger than the standard rooms—they include a cable TV, mini-bar, and a hydromassage bathtub. There are also a handful of private cottages that guests can stay in. The cottages are located near the rear of the hotel. With big living rooms and super-comfy bedrooms, the cottages are perfect for families or groups.
Alma, the hotel’s restaurant, serves up a variety of dishes and regional specialties. Breakfast is offered as a buffet, while lunch and dinner can be ordered from the à la carte menu. The food here is tasty, fresh, and filling. Before or after dinner, guests can enjoy a Pisco Sour in the hotel’s bar. Snacks, sandwiches, and drinks can be purchased from an onsite 24-hour convenience store.
If you’ve been on the move a lot and feel like getting some exercise, head to the hotel’s gym, where you’ll find a number of cardio and weight-resistance machines. Afterwards visit the spa or sauna and indulge yourself with a few hours of relaxation.
Wi-Fi is available in public areas and there is also an Internet station where guests can get online. The hotel has an ATM and you can also exchange currency at the front desk.
