City drivers in Belize do not follow the same rules as they do in North America. It is inadvisable to bike in the city, as many drivers drive without much regard to traffic laws. On the cayes (Belize’s northern islands) biking is a common way to get around, and bikes share the road with go-carts more often than cars.
