Only a tiny amount of Belize’s power comes from renewable resources. Belize relies mostly on imported fossil fuels, which account for 66 percent of Belize’s energy. Biomass makes up 26 percent, 5 percent is imported electricity, and 3 percent is hydro.
Belize participates in the Kyoto Protocol, and has made concrete steps toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
