Ojochal is a small town along Costa Rica’s south Pacific coastline. This area sees fewer visitors than other parts of Costa Rica, which makes it a great “off-the-beaten-path” type of destination. Its beaches are lovely and uncrowded. Swimming, scuba diving and sport fishing are all enjoyed here. Back on land, travelers can ride horses or hike to the Nauyaca Waterfalls. The town of Ojochal, which is set slightly back from the coast, offers basic amenities and services.
Alma de Ojochal is a gorgeous B&B in Ojochal. Guests adore its small size, lovely accommodations and idyllic surroundings. Its friendly and accommodating hosts do a great job making travelers feel at home. The grounds are immaculate. Concrete paths run through gardens and pass tropical trees. There are views of forested mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
The hotel has only five rooms. The rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and tile floors. Every room has a private balcony that looks over the ocean and surrounding hillside—sitting out here with a book or a drink is utterly relaxing. All rooms have air conditioning, a private bathroom, and hot water shower. Also included are a safe, coffee maker, and mini fridge. The rooms have either a king-size or queen-size bed; there are also two suites that have a sitting area and sofa bed.
A homemade breakfast is offered each morning. The menu changes daily, but banana pancakes, omelets, gallo pinto, fresh fruit, and huevos rancheros make frequent appearances. The restaurant, Verde, is open-air and serves Oaxacan cuisine. Drinks can be ordered from the bar.
The hotel has a small poor where guests can swim. The swimming pool overlooks the mountains and ocean and is a great place to soak up sun while enjoying the view.
