Shuttles need to be booked in advance. Seats on shuttles are larger and more comfortable than buses, and the vehicles are air conditioned. Overnight shuttles come outfitted with bunk beds, and longer journeys come with stops at roadside cafes and gift shops. You'll typically share the shuttle with 8 to 16 other passengers.
