Maintaining a Vibrant National Culture
Anywhere Costa Rica coordinates the Committee on Community Culture in conjunction with the La Fortuna Development Association. Together, our goal is create free activities that engage people in Costa Rican culture. The activities cover a broad spectrum of categories – from dance to art to food – and are inclusive to people of all ages and nationalities.
We work hard to make La Fortuna not only a tourist destination, but also a cultural destination. La Fortuna is a vibrant, unique town and it’s our goal to allow visitors to get a real taste of tico culture.
We offer monthly activities that combine local and regional artists. These activities are a fun way for all people – young and old, ticos and foreigners alike – to come together and appreciate our national heritage. Past activities include:
Dance and Culture in the Park.
Joyful Voices Concert.
Peña Cultural Fair.
Theater Workshops.
Marches and Parades.
Anywhere Costa Rica supports social equality and human rights. We are involved in several programs that work with the local elderly population.
We collaborated with the Costa Rican Social Security Network–Culture of Peace to create the Annual Festival for Golden Citizens. This festival brought together elderly residents from San Carlos, including the communities of La Fortuna, Monterrey, Venado, and Los Angeles. It was full of activity and color, and included musicians, dancers, comedians, and painters. Anywhere Costa Rica donated provisions and several staff members volunteered at the event. We also incorporate our elderly citizens into other activities, including environmental marches, local celebrations, bingo games, and regional sports.
