This full day tour starts at 7.00 hrs with a drive along 'Volcano Avenue' that will give you spectacular views of the Andean landscape. We will pass the canyon of Toachi river and many indigenous communities. We will visit one of the families there, giving you the opportunitiy to ask them about their life and work, and maybe pick up some words in Kichwa, the native language of the region . We go on and visit the unique market of Zumbahua (Saturdays only).

When we reach Quilotoa lake, located in the crater of the volcano of that name, you can walk down the crater to the very beautiful emerald coloured lake. The walk back up takes about an hour, or you can rent a mule. It is important to realize that the lake is at 3600 mtrs, and the walk back up takes you to 3900 mtrs: be prepared! Take a few days in Quito at 2800 to adapt to the altitude.
