Kilimanjaro and Arusha Region

The Kilimanjaro area has an international airport (JRO) and serves as a gateway to Kilimanjaro National Park, a popular trekking summit. Also in this region is Mount Meru, Arusha town, Arusha National Park, and the laid back Moshi.

Mount Meru

Mount Meru stands at 14,980 feet (4,566 metres), towering over the city of Arusha. Located 43 miles (70 km) west of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru is often overlooked by climbers yet it offers spectacular views, lovely scenery and wildlife sightings, and is a challenging climb in itself.
