Explore Hue’s artisan craft scene on the full-day biking tour. You will head into the craft villages outside the royal city to meet local artisans and learn how to produce your own versions of their traditional crafts.
Start the day early and travel by bicycle to the Toa Kham boat dock with your guide. The bikes will come on board with you for a morning cruise down the Perfume River in a traditional dragon boat. Your first stop is the ancient village of Bao Vinh which was once an important trade center along the river.
You’ll continue by boat to Trieu Son village where you’ll visit a 17th-century house and the local market. You’ll then spend some time exploring the neighboring villages by bicycle, including a vegetable village and incense-making village. You’ll have the opportunity to meet plenty of local people along the way.
Crossing the river by boat will take you on to Sinh village, where you will learn all about traditional paper paintings from Mr Ky Huu Phuoc. Using traditional materials, Mr Ky will guide you through the intricate process of his craft. Afterward, you’ll have a unique souvenir to take home.
After a lunch of local dishes, you will cycle to the Thanh Tien paper flower village. The 400-year-old art of paper flower making is a great source of pride in the area, and you will have the opportunity to see how it’s done. With your paper painting and flower in hand, you will take the dragon boat back along the Perfume River to central Hue.
